Top division Belgium side Genk have confirmed that Nigeria international winger Yira Sor is few details from joining Turkish side Amedspor, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
He is already in Turkey putting final touches to the deal, hence won’t be available for Genk in their league opener against Zulte Waregem this weekend.
He has been at Genk since 2022 when he joined from Czech Republic side Slavia Prague, he also played for Banik Ostrava in the same country. He is well known and feared for his blistering pace as seen in the 92 games he played for the Belgium side, starting in 34 of the games.
Capped at senior level by Nigeria, Sor scored 14 goals and provided seven assists for Genk. His departure has been mooted for a while, and it’s why he hasn’t been seen in training with the team lately.
Coach Jess Thorup could not yet confirm whether all the documents are officially in order to complete the move to Amedspor, the team that recently signed another Super Eagles forward in Gift Orban.
According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Thorup made it clear that he is no longer counting on the Nigerian for the first league match. “I don’t know if everything has been signed yet, but I can be honest enough to say that Yira hasn’t been at the club for the past two days. He won’t be there.”
