Nigeria international goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is now back in full training with Italian Serie A side Udinese ahead of the start of next season, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
He missed all five of their pre season games due to a shoulder problem that became an issue to him a few weeks ago, but according to Il Gazzettino , Okoye has rejoined his teammates but continues to work with due caution.
The shoulder discomfort hasn’t completely disappeared yet, and for this very reason, Udinese’s medical and technical staff prefer to avoid any kind of acceleration.
Despite the evident progress, the Friulian club does not want to force the recovery of a player considered important for the new season.
For this reason, it’s possible that Okoye will be kept for the Coppa Italia or, alternatively, directly for his league debut. The goal is to have the goalkeeper in top condition when the official matches begin .
It also puts him back in contention for the squad of the senior national team of Nigeria, when they begin the quest to be at the 2027 AFCON in September.
