Super Eagles target David Odogu will spend the season on loan to French Ligue 1 side Toulouse from Italian Serie A side AC Milan, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

An agreement was struck between both parties for his loan move, the first step towards the collaboration between both teams who are connected through the RedBird Capital. We would be wrong not to try and explore interesting avenues to create a link between the two entities,” president Olivier Cloarec had declared at the end of 2025.

The move by the 20 year old is the first among the teams but certainly won’t be the last. The Ligue 1 side primarily want Odogu to compete with Rasmus Nicolaisen on the left side of the defence, a position where he excelled in his youth. Earlier in the summer, Tobias Guddal was on the verge of joining Toulouse, but the deal fell through. He went to Sparta Prague for €5.5m.

Milan bought Odogu from Wolfsburg for €7m last summer, but his playing time was limited. According to LesViolets, Odogu is already in Toulouse ready to complete his move, having been training separately at Milan in recent days.

With Wolfsburg, Odogu had only played three Bundesliga matches. Milan therefore signed him based on the potential he had shown in their youth teams, while Anderlecht and Mainz were interested in acquiring him this summer. Fabrizio Romano also confirms the deal with Toulouse.

The rise of the defender was brought to the attention of the head coach of Nigeria Eric Chelle by former Nigeria international Segun Odegbami, who wrote that contacts has been made with him to inform the authorities that the young defender is interest in playing for the Super Eagles.

However, new German national team coach Jurgen Klopp has also included him in an expanded group of players to be watched for the future of the national team. Odogu was a World Cup and European Under-17 champion with Germany in 2023.
