Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has picked the players that will represent Nigeria when they begin their campaign in the qualifiers for the 2027 AFCON, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Super Eagles have been drawn in Group L for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, alongside Madagascar, Guinea-Bissau, and co-hosts Tanzania.
The tournament will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from June 19 to July 17, 2027, with matchday one kicking off on September 21, 2026. Nigeria will play host to Madagascar on the 23rd of September in Uyo.
We can exclusively reveal that back to fitness Nottingham Forest right back Ola Aina is back in the team. His return means there was no place for Genk defender Christian Akpan who made his debut against Portugal during the summer international break.
Chelle will however face a selection dilemma with the trio of Abdullahi Bewene, Ryan Alebiosu and Bright Osayi-Samuel fighting for the one slot left as deputy to Aina.
