Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has handed a return to goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali and the attacking duo of Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman for the upcoming AFCON 2027 qualifiers in September.
OwnGoalNigeria.com also gathered that right back Ola Aina like we reported yesterday is back in the team for the first time since last year where he picked up an injury that made him miss the AFCON.
Osimhen, Nwabali and Lookman have not been part of the team since after the AFCON, but they are now expected to return to the team for the AFCON Qualifiers.
Chelle is keen on ensuring that the team starts the qualifiers on a sound note and has decided against including any new player in the team, at least for now.
Super Eagles have been drawn in Group L for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, alongside Madagascar, Guinea-Bissau, and co-hosts Tanzania.
The tournament will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from June 19 to July 17, 2027, with matchday one kicking off on September 21, 2026. Nigeria will play host to Madagascar on the 23rd of September in Uyo.
