Dimitar Dimitrov has revealed the reasons why the proposed transfer of the top scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Junior Lokosa to Ludogorets Razgard of Bulgaria fell through.
Lokosa’s agent claimed that the 24 year old who has 18 goals in just 21 games in the NPFL refused to undergo trails before he is signed by the club as that wasn’t the initial agreement between both parties.
The agent said a disagreement between the Sporting Director of the club and the head coach was partly responsible for the decision of the club to insist on the player having trials before he is signed.
Coach of the team Dimitrov has rubbished such talks insisting that at no point in time was it agreed that Lokosa will be signed without trials by the club. He also denied any rift with the Sporting Director of the club over the signing of Lokosa.
The coach was quoted as saying that Lokosa’s level isn’t up to that of his youth team players by Bulgaria’s media outlet Sportal.bg. A claim which Ted Hristov a journalist in Bulgaria said was lost in translation.
” At no point in time did the coach said his youth team players are better than Lokosa. He didn’t say so maybe Goggle Translate made it seem that way. Dimitrov only said the level of Lokosa was not high enough for the first team of the club at the moment.
” He explained that he will rather be patient with his youth team players to make the progression to the first team than sign the Nigerian who is already 24 years old and still lacks some very essential qualities”, Ted exclusively told Owngoalnigeria.com in a telephone conversation.
On if the striker actually underwent trials at the club before a decision was reached by the club, Ted explained that he was supposed to play a test game after the club were left unimpressed by his performance during drills with some first team players and that of the B team.
” The decision for him to play a test game was arrived at because the coaches were not entirely pleased with his level during the drills he had with some first team players and that of the B team. He refused to play the game and returned back to Nigeria, which you can’t blame him as trials wasn’t part of the discussion when he agreed to their offer”, Ted concluded.
