Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has taken notice of the rise of relatively unknown Nigerian left back Richard Ajayi with German champions Bayern Munich, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
16 year old Ajayi was among the youth team players of the club who were handed a first team spot by head coach Vincent Kompany for their first pre season game, which ended in a 1-2 defeat against SV Wehen Wiesbaden.
Born in Nigeria, Ajayi who is predominantly a left back came to the Germany from Ukraine when the war broke out. He started from playing for non league teams before he was spotted and taking to the Bayern setup where he has cemented his spot in the U19.
Chelle who is also the coach of the U23 team of Nigeria has been made aware of his progress, and has him in his list of professional players for the U23 team, who will be looking to qualify for the Olympic after missing two consecutive editions.
His performance will determine if he will be handed a chance in the senior national team per what we exclusively gathered from one of his scouts.
