Newly promoted German Bundesliga side Elversburg have been busy in the summer transfer window with new signings expected to help them retain their top flight status at the end of next season, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
One of the areas they are keen on strengthening is in midfield where they have their sights on 22 year old Nigerian midfielder Anthony Dennis, who is on the books of Turkish side Göztepe.
Dennis saw a move to newly promoted English Premier League side Conventry City collapse at the death over a disagreement on transfer fee, but Göztepe are still hopeful that he will leave before the close of the summer window.
Coach Stanimir Stoilov has not played him in pre season games, in order to minimise the risk of an injury that could wreck his transfer, and Elversburg have now joined the race for his signing.
We gathered that Göztepe are open to his exit but want a base fee of €9m, which interested clubs think it’s excessive for a player who has only had one real season in Turkey.
He arrived from Nigeria in the January window of the 2022-2023 season, and was included in the main team squad at the end of the season. Last season was when he cemented his spot in the first team.
Since his move to the team, Dennis who made the provisional list of Nigeria for the AFCON has played in 83 matches with 4 goals and 5 assists.
